Steps To Replace Packing Seals

1. Accessing the Packing Seal Area:

  - Disassemble the Top Drive:

     - Begin disassembling the parts that cover the packing seals. Typically, this may involve removing the drive shaft and housing.

2. Remove Old Packing Seals:

  - Take Photos: As you disassemble the components, take photos or notes to document the order and orientation of parts for reassembly.

  - Remove the Old Seals: Carefully remove the old packing seals. Use a flat-bladed screwdriver or similar tool to pry them out if they are difficult to remove. Be cautious not to damage the sealing grooves or housing of the top drive.

3. Inspect Components:

  - Check for Wear and Damage: Inspect the housing and components where the seals sit for any signs of wear or damage. Clean them thoroughly with a suitable cleaner.

  - Repair if Necessary: If there are any issues that could lead to future leaks, consider repairing or replacing affected components before installing new seals.

4. Installing New Packing Seals:

    - Install New Seals:Carefully press the new packing seals into their designated grooves or seats, ensuring they are seated evenly without any twists or folds. Ensure that each seal is properly aligned.
